Our roots in Skagit County
Janicki General Contracting was officially founded in 2020, but our story began generations earlier. What started as a cedar shake mill in Skagit County in the 1930s became Janicki Logging & Construction in the 1950s, then grew into a family of companies built on hard work and stewardship. Long before JGC, the Janicki family was building roads, developing land, constructing infrastructure, and creating housing across the region. As the family's development portfolio expanded, the need for a dedicated construction company became clear, and Janicki General Contracting was launched.
Family owners, still hands-on today
Today, JGC carries that legacy forward through family owners who remain actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the company. Rather than leading from a distance, our owners work alongside our team, guiding projects from concept through completion with the same hands-on approach that has defined the Janicki name for generations. As the construction division of a network of family businesses, we build in the same communities where our families live, our children attend school, and future generations will call home.

With more than 100 years of combined experience across construction, development, land use, and project management, our team understands every stage of a project's lifecycle. We work with landowners in the earliest stages, and our certified Technology and Land Use Program Specialist provides CIS/GIS-derived site plan preparation to support land-use applications. Alongside planners, surveyors, engineers, and local jurisdictions, we turn an initial idea into a viable project, with white-glove service and open communication at every step.

The legacy of Grandma Annie
Many of the values that guide our company trace back to our family matriarch, Grandma Annie. Her philosophy was simple: take care of people, stay involved, and do what's right, even when it doesn't directly benefit you, because those beliefs will "gain you stars in heaven." Family gatherings, company picnics, and holiday meals became traditions, never extras. That spirit lives on in the relationships, opportunities, and stronger communities we strive to build.
